The Long Journey was inspired by a vivd dream of baby sea turtles swimming in the air above me. The symbolic message I received from the dream, which happened just as I was beginning to find my way on my soul path return to art, was that this is just the beginning of what is a life long process of growth and creative expression. I have a tendency to get very excited with beginnings, and tend to have a feeling like the work is done... or at least I did when I awoke to the call of creativity. And this dream was a gentle playful call to remember that this is not a flash in the pan thing... and to prepare myself for a long journey... a life's work... ahead.

Freedom Run is a painting inspired by an epic dream that spanned a lifetime, the tale of a maiden who was a prisoner, kept in a stable next to her devoted stallion. she had a beautiful stall in the stable with golden bars and curtains, but it was a prison none the less. When a strong gruff man came to work at the stables the horse developed a relationship with the man. When the man offered to set them both free, the maiden was afraid and chose the comfort of her known prison over the unknown freedom of the outside world. The stallion made the hard choice for freedom, leaving his maiden behind. This painting is infused with the energy of that dramatic choice when freedom calls you to be courageous and say goodbye to the comfort of the prison that you know.

Elephants became my mascot in the early days of my return to art. i was dreaming big and i had a lot of ols stories and limiting beliefs dragging me down. The elephant, with its symbolic message of breaking through barriers and being unstoppable, won my love and devotion. The big breakthrough that this painting offered me was showing me a limiting belief that was restricting my creativity. I began painting a gray elephant and was feeling kind of down about it when I had the breakthrough thought, i can paint this any color i want! What resulted is one of the signature piece of my entire career, an award winning breakthrough painting which has won many hearts and souls.

This painting is part of the Make Your Mark project and got its initiation at an event in 2018 where visitors were invited to write their dreams and intentions onto the blank canvas which became BE UNSTOPPABLE. The progress photos show how it began, and i think you can even still see some of the original "gray" elephant i started to paint before the epiphany!

The healing energy of this artwork is of profound self-worth, feeling how deeply we are loved, and knowing that we are the champions, victors, and rulers of our own destiny. "You may not recognize me, my hair wild from the sea,
Sun gold my skin
The cliffs I climbed gifted me with a cut on my shin
Singing a tune I caught walking barefoot at noon.
Seagull feathers in my hair
Seaweed between my toes,
You may not recognize me.
I set myself free."

I Set Myself Free is about the freedom i feel when i am floating, swimming, diving and snorkling in the ocean, especially where the wild water is rocking and moving me, reminding me that i am so small and nature is so incredibly powerful. 

The summer of 2020 i spent time on Monhegan Island, located about a mile off the coast of Maine. i walked the trails and climbed the cliffs and dove in the water for days on end, and found a new sense of freedom and a budding awareness of the sovereignty within me. This painting is one of two mermaids inspired by that experience, and this poem i wrote at the time.

The turtle spirit animal symbolizes going with the flow, settling in for the long journey. Turtle reminds us that life is the journey, not the destination. We often believe that there is an end, an achievement, a measurable result or goal that we are moving toward. But in fact, life is a flow, an ever-evolving process. Turtles also represent the many stories we gather throughout our lives. There comes a time when we must let go of the stories we have learned from others in order to tell our own.

This piece is part of Make Your Mark 2018, a community art experience that invited people to “make their mark” by writing an intention or desire on the canvas. The intentions are documented and, when the painting is done, written on the edges of the finished canvas.

Do you feel like you can do anything? Do you feel like you are safe, supported, cherished, valued, embraced, held, and sun-kissed? Dolphins radiate ecstatic joy, freedom, and love. This dolphin reminds you that when you are aligned and connected to your source, the energy that creates worlds is at your disposal. You radiate energy and are one with all of creation.

The Cosmic Dolphin is part of my Make Your Mark project from 2018, a series of paintings that started at events where i invited visitors to write their dreams and intentions on the blank canvas. When the painting was complete i re-wrote the intentions along the side edges of the painting.

Let them become the fertilizer for you to rise up into your full feminine power...rise like the eagle, fierce and determined, passionate and strong, rise above what was, spread your wings, see far, and know who you truly are.

This painting was inspired by a series of experiences and dreams centered around themes of healing the mother wound, taking control and taking action with passion. The eagle flew across my path driving home a few days before i planned to start this painting and felt like a clear message to let the feminine within me soar and be strong. i made a video of me starting this painting and talking about all the symbolism and meaning behind it. you can see here. Grace was begun on my birthday to set intentions for the coming year. The process was writing of intentions, followed by abstract painting, followed by seeing the images in the abstract and bringing the forward.

The Intentions: I follow my pure inspiration and desire. I purify my thoughts and actions and burn away what is impure. I realize and let go of all negative, limiting stories, beliefs, ideas, limitations and contracts. I share my purest truth, my truest desires and self. I follow my journey of healing self-esteem and self-worth, trusting my ability to manifest, knowing how deserving I am. I manifest my intention and desire with purity of focus. Fun, happiness, good health, joy, abundant love, purity of ME, who I really am. Purity of true desire. Healing marked by strength of body, clarity of mind, purity of focus. Abundant good health. Abundant prosperity. I do what I love. I do not apologize. I do what I desire. I follow my fun. I deserve all good. I deserve to be who I am. I deserve what I desire.
