Artist Statement

I create to bring light to what lies beneath the surface, gathering what has been hidden, lost, and forgotten. Each piece is an encounter with the overlooked, restoring what was fragmented into wholeness. My work acts as a mirror, where the viewer meets themselves more fully — inviting recognition, reflection, and realignment with inner truth.

Artist Bio

Larissa grew up in a small Maine town in a renovated farmhouse surrounded by acres of fields and woods—a landscape that would later become central to her creative exploration. Her talent was recognized early, with awards in writing and painting during her youth, and she earned a scholarship to pursue formal art study. After a distinguished career in graphic design, where her mastery of visual storytelling and design matured, Larissa returned fully to painting, bringing with her a depth of professional rigor and a refined aesthetic sensibility. Her studio in Maine serves as the place where long walks in the forests, climbing trees, and immersing herself in the natural world nourish the work that has become her true calling.

At the heart of Larissa’s practice is an act of illumination: she creates to bring light to what has remained unseen — to reveal the beauty beneath the surface and gather what has been hidden, lost, or forgotten. Her paintings function as mirrors and thresholds, inviting viewers into moments of self-recognition, reflection, and alignment with inner truth. Collectors respond with deep resonance, often describing the work as intimate and transformative.

“Each painting offers a space where the viewer can see themselves more clearly, hear their inner wisdom, and embody their truth.”

— Larissa Davis

In her studio, Larissa continues to explore the interplay of dark and light, most recently through her striking zebra series, where contrasts become a language of connection and reflection. She is also developing a series of fire horse paintings, inspired by the energy and symbolism of the Chinese zodiac, celebrating vitality, courage, and transformation. Beyond the studio, Larissa draws inspiration from the natural world—climbing trees, exploring wild waterways, and immersing herself in the rhythms of the land—to inform the movement and life within her work. Looking ahead, she will spend a month in Greece in early 2026, an experience she anticipates will spark new ideas and inspire a forthcoming series of paintings, continuing her commitment to creating art that resonates with both beauty and inner truth.
