Return – Original Oil and Mixed Media Painting, Woman in Woods, Spiritual Art of Homecoming
Return
Oil over mixed media on canvas
30″ x 40″ x 1.25″
A woman stands i the forest, her form merging with the surroundings, as though reconnecting with her source. An illuminated path into the woods glows with the warmth of distant light—an invitation to go deeper into herself.
This piece reflects my lifelong relationship with nature. As a child, I lived surrounded by acres of forest yet remained at its boundary, held back by fear and the sense that I did not belong. Only years later—after a midlife transformation that asked me to gather the scattered parts of myself—did I return to these same woods with awe, gratitude, and humility. I walk among the trees that witnessed my earliest years, offering thanks and asking forgiveness for my absence.
My art explores the inner journey of coming home to yourself, and this painting is an expression of that return. Early marks and underlying textures remain visible, exposing the path that shaped the piece—just as the journey itself shapes us.
A meditation on return, gratitude, and restoration, this work honors the healing connection to mother earth. It will appeal to anyone seeking connection, reflection, or the reassurance of coming home.
