Beyond the Limit

I wanted to paint limitlessness, and how our beliefs can create limits we don’t even realize are there. I started painting cheetahs but I wasn’t entirely sure why.

As I painted, it became clear. I love their explosive power and the way they change direction in an instant, moving without thought or hesitation. When I paint cheetahs running, I feel that power. They are all in.

Growing up, I was told how talented I was so often that it became part of my identity. Years later, I noticed the dark side of that identity. It was like a little gargoyle hiding in the shadows, and it whispered… “You’re so talented, you don’t have to work hard. Your talent will carry you!” I had no idea how much it was holding me back. I never challenged myself, I was never all in, and I quickly settled for “good enough.”

But being talented was just the starting point. A cheetah is born with the talent to run up to 70 mph, but it has to play and run and chase and practice to reach its full potential. I never did that… but I am now. I’m all in, I’m doing the work, and I’m going beyond every limit. The cheetah is leading the charge!
